UCDMC LGBT Healthcare Opportunities

• We have a list of LGBT Faculty Mentors; please contact a co-director if you are interested in meeting with or becoming a mentor.

• CARES Clinic – A UCDMC clinic dedicated to providing comprehensive care to HIV positive individuals in Sacramento. Concentrating on services and education via its outpatient clinic, CARES contributes to the improved length and quality of life for those infected, through providing medical care, mental health counseling, health education, substance abuse counseling, case management and related social services. By providing all aspects of physical care, mental health and social services in one location, CARES is able to provide clients a thorough and fully coordinated plan of care. www.caresclinic.org

Lambda Community Center

The Lambda Community Fund opened the Lambda Community Center in August of 1986. The Center has served as a focal point for the LGBTQI community ever since. The center offers a variety of activities and discussion groups for Sacramento’s queer community.

 

Lavender Library

The Lavender Library loans books, periodicals, videos and tapes of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender interest to members, collects items that preserve the LGBT experience in the Sacramento area and sponsor lectures, exhibits and cultural events for the community. The first Friday of every month from 6-8 pm, the Lamba Library hosts Femme Fridays, a fun, social event geared towards femmes and femme power.

A lesbian-owned café in the heart of midtown that is Sacramento’s best lesbian/gay café. Good coffee, great paninis, free Wi-fi, and a little back room that’s perfect for studying.

Most of the gay bars and clubs in sacramento are concentrated on K street between 20th and 21st. Faces and Badlands are the most popular.
